The youngsters from San Fernando Valley, CA are back again with their crushing new release
Abandonment. Out of the ashes of a freshly updated sound and driving force,
BETRAYAL has certainly improved since
The People’s Fallacy. Hardcore has seen its share of cliché and most people would put
BETRAYAL into another “stereotypical” niche.
BETRAYAL uses a lot of catchy melodies, different vocal techniques and patterns, and plenty of gut-wrenching breakdowns to keep the listener intrigued and ready for the next song to please their ears.
The intensity starts right off the bat with “Low Expectations” and then slides right into their single “Without A Doubt”. Heavy driven melodies with angular guitars help set the tone while you are chanting “My life, my choice, my fate’s on me!” This is a great start to Abandonment to capture any listener’s attention. BETRAYAL’s improvement has been thoroughly impressive in how they compose their music with new leads and a different arrangement.
Powerful guitar changes and crisp drum-fills continue on going into the self-titled track “Abandonment”. Not only does the Egyptian sounding melody compliment the eerie but also it leads straight into an upbeat punk/hardcore song “The Good Die Young”. Soon after the album picks right back up with the heavy hitters of “Revolution” and “Human Nature”. The list really goes on for each song that brings the beef with a nice brief break with their “Interlude” track.
Abandonment certainly proves to be a great album to come out of Mediaskare. If you want intensity through and through then you should defiantly pick up Abandonment, but if you don’t like having your ears rocked by crushing break downs then you should STILL pick it up because it offers plenty of catchy leads and fun, groovy chants. Hardcore is in need of a solid release to kick off this spring so be sure to look into it.
